The Hachinohe Line runs from Hachinohe Station to Kuji Station in Iwate Prefecture, tracing the coastline for much of its route. It runs largely parallel to the Michinoku Coastal Trail, a long-distance nature trail within the Sanriku Fukko National Park.
Along the way, passengers can enjoy a succession of natural highlights, including Kabushima Island, the Ashigezaki Takaiwa Observatory, Shirahama Beach, the natural grasslands of Tanesashi Coast, and the Hashikami Lighthouse—offering ever-changing views of the rugged coastal scenery.
