Hokuyōkan is a museum located within the grounds of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s Ōminato District. Its exhibition spaces are divided into a Navy and Self-Defense Forces section and a History section, showcasing around 1,000 valuable artifacts related to “maritime defense of the northern seas,” spanning from the former Imperial Navy to the present-day Self-Defense Forces.


In addition to historical documents, the museum displays a wide range of rare photographs, paintings, and uniforms, offering a comprehensive look at the region’s naval history.olpmjj
