Lake Ogawara has an average depth of 11 meters, and at its deepest point, the water is 25 meters deep. With an area of 63.20 km², the Lake is Japan's eleventh largest lake and the largest one across Aomori Prefecture. In Japan, lakes have registered addresses (or cadastral). However, this vast lake rarely has only one cadastral, which you can't find a second example across the country. The lake is inhabited by Japanese eels, smelt, and icefishes. There are campsites and parks along the lakeside, visitors can enjoy fishing, swimming, and camping here. Every year in late July, Lake Ogawara Festiva(with torch festival) is held and attracts a lot of visitors.
