Well known across the country, Ōma’s tuna(also called Ōma-maguro or Hon-maguro), is the top brand of bluefin tuna and called a black diamond for its value and body color. There are many local dishes featuring tuna, including tuna sushi and tuna bowls.In 2013, a 222kg Ōma-maguro was sold at the record of 155.4 million yen at the Tsukiji market bidding. And in 2019, one 278kg Ōma Tuna was sold for 333.6 million yen, the highest price for fish sold in an auction in history.
