The Odai Yamamoto Site is from the beginning of the Jomon Period and attests to a change in lifestyle from mobile to sedentism. Radiocarbon dating of the carbonized material on these potshards indicates that they probably date back to nore than 13,000 years ago, making them the earliest known pottery in Northeast Asia.
