The Tagoyano Site is a village site from early to middle Jomon Period (about 6000 to 4000 years ago). Located on the terrace to the north of the Kamegaoka Burial Site. The shell mounds have yielded shells from brackish shellfish (Japanese basket clams and other shellfish), implements made from the bones of whales and dolphins, many unfinished bracelets made of dog-cockle shells, showing the life in the inner bay area. Along with the Osedou shell mounds and Sashatake shell mounds on the northern shore of the Lake Jusan, it is one of the few shell mounds on the Japan Sea and is very precious.
