Among the 104 streets which were chosen by the Ministry of Construction in Japan, there is one called ""Nakamachi Komise Street"", the street of traditional buildings. Along this street, you can see many arcades that were built in the Edo Period. The Takahashi Residence which is an important cultural property lies in the middle of this street, is flanked by many brew houses and warehouses. Inside Hirosaki Municipal Local Area Literature Museum, you can see many music scores written and instruments played by three writers, Uehara Gen, Uehara Kenroku and Uehara Ryuji. In Komise street, the reason why you can see many arcades is that this kind of construction can effectively protect the buildings from being eroded by either rain or snow. Arcades are often seen in Japanese prefectures that snow a lot. By seeing these arcades, you can clearly see how well these buildings have been kept until today.
