Osore Mountains, or Osorezan, is a Buddhist temple considered as one of the three major sacred sites in Japan, along with Mount Kōya and Mount Hiei. It was opened by Jikaku Daishi in 862 and prospered as a training school for the Tendai sect.  With an appearance of the windmill turning around and the odor of sulfur from the rough rocky places, it perfectly resembles the descriptions of hell or pure land. Hence, it is believed to be the gate to hell or pure land and attracts many worshipers throughout the open season.Osorezan also has a hot spring (Reisen, or fountain) open for pilgrims and tourists. In Bodai-Ji, visitors can experience spiritual training, purification rituals, and meditation.
