Located in a hill at the foot of Mt. Iwaki, the Historic Site Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle is a ritual site with the stone circle (circle made of stones) from the late Jomon Period (about 3,000 years ago).Stone circles in late Jomon are few in Japan, and the Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle is the only case in which a complete picture has been found through excavation and investigation. In addition, surrounded by windbreaks and natural forests, no artificial object remains. The good viewing makes visitors feel as if they are in the Jomon Period, which is also one of the charm of this monument.
